My Bio
I am a self taught jewelry designer, working with glass beads and other materials to create woven jewelry with low environmental impact. I avoid materials such as gold, silver, gemstones, plastics, abalone and red coral, which all have reputations for environmental damage and human rights violations.

I hope that being a member of Deviant Art will allow me to set higher standards for my photography skills. My plan is to share only my very best photos, and hopefully I will be able to improve enough to show off many new items.

More examples of my designs can be seen on my blog, Inspirational Beading. www.inspirationalbeading.blogs…

Different Muses

I've decided to keep going forward with my "collections" of inspiration. This week I'm looking at different types of insects, and how they make their way into our art. The world of insects provides so many unique colors, shapes and textures to incorporate into the things we make. I have done some insect collages in the past, but this time I'm showing some actual artwork that was inspired by bugs and critters. I've collected quite a few beautiful pieces from around deviantart, which you can see here: http://sagescupboard.deviantart.com/favourites/44008719 Meanwhile, the last collection - Nefertiti and Cleopatra http://sagescupboard.deviantar

I'm trying something new with my inspiration blog, and doing a sort of mash-up of different images and tidbits based on a certain theme - particularly things that inspire jewelry designers. And since there are so many wonderful places to look for inspiration, it's going really well so far. The first post was a little short, but now I'm ready to go all out and find inspirations from more of my favorite sites, including deviantart. This month, my theme is the two queens, Nefertiti and Cleopatra. I was hoping to get a few really nice illustrations to prove just how much influence these two women still have on art today, and I wasn't disappointe

A New Challenge

0 min read
Well, after making 30 necklaces in a row, I only ended up with a handful of what I would call Deviant-worthy images.  But I'm going to try and make up for that with my latest challenge. I'm going to try and make a new bracelet every week in 2011.  I'll post my very best pics here along the way. So far, I don't have much to add.  I've had the worst luck with weather and timing, and I think perhaps I'm rushing things a little bit.  I have to practice a little more patience, and wait until the light is just right to get the shots I like. You can learn more about my challenge, and what I'm creating here: http://inspirationalbeading.blogspot.c
